AFRICAN AMERICAN History 

Over 500 years of history...

1500-1800..some African Americans were taken from Africa on ship through Middle Passage to Charleston, SC and lived on plantation as slaves to work on the rice fields. Slavery was legal in the 13 colonies. Slaves were still able to cultivate their own culture in their living through cooking, music and religion. Read Exodus in the Holy Bible. Richard Allen created the first black church AME as  rebuke from slavery.

Haiti became a free black nation in the 1700s when blacks overtook their Haiti.

1940-2000

After WWII...still racial discrimination 

Jim Crow laws dismantled

Jackie Robinson was 1st AA baseball professional player

Dorothy Dandridge 1st female AA actress to win award 

1955: Civil Rights Activist Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus.

Dr. Martin Luther King was a nonviolent Civil Rights Activist

Brown v/s Board of Education.. separate but equal schools are unconstitutional
